For a child who has lost one or both parents, the path forward can be uncertain — access to school fees, food, clothing, and a stable home is often no longer guaranteed. AL-AMEEN Welfare Foundation's orphan support program exists to help close that gap.
Fatima is one of the children AAWF has been privileged to support. Her name has been changed and her story shared with her guardian's permission, to protect her privacy while highlighting the kind of impact that consistent, community-funded support can have.
After losing her father, Fatima's family struggled to keep up with school fees and everyday essentials. Through our orphan support program, AAWF was able to step in with school fees, uniforms, learning materials, and ongoing check-ins with her guardian to make sure her needs were being met beyond just the classroom.
What Orphan Support Looks Like at AAWF
Orphan support is rarely a single act of giving — it is an ongoing relationship. Depending on each child's circumstances, our support can include:
- School fees, uniforms, and learning materials
- Basic needs such as food and clothing
- Regular welfare check-ins with guardians and caregivers
- Referrals for health support when needed
Why This Work Matters
Losing a parent does not need to mean losing access to education or a stable childhood. With consistent support, children like Fatima are able to stay in school, keep up with their classmates, and build toward a future with more options than uncertainty would otherwise allow.
