With so many appeals for donations circulating online and in communities, one question deserves more attention than it often gets: is the organization you are giving to actually accountable for how it uses your money?
AL-AMEEN Welfare Foundation (AAWF) is registered with the Registrar General of Ghana under the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992), having been established on January 19, 2023. That registration is not just a formality — it is one of the ways donors can verify that an organization is legally recognized and operating within the structures Ghana has put in place for non-profits.
Why Registration Matters
A registered charity is required to operate under a recognized legal structure, which brings a level of oversight and accountability that informal or unregistered fundraising simply does not have. For donors, this means:
- Clearer accountability for how funds are used
- A verifiable legal identity you can look up
- Reduced risk of your donation supporting fraudulent appeals
- An organization that can be held to its stated mission
Transparency Beyond Registration
Registration is a starting point, not the whole picture. AAWF also aims to be transparent about how donations are used — from orphan support and food donations, to Islamic outreach, youth mentorship, and health support initiatives across Ghana.
